Computational thinking
Computational thinking is a fundamental skill for everyone. Next to Reading, writing and numeracy we should also add computational thinking.
Computational thinking involves collecting data and analyzing it to understand the problem. At the base there is the ability to break down the problem into a set of simpler problems. So define the steps to solve the problem itself. (The sequence or procedure used is called an algorithm.)
Used in IT, created to explain/make robots and computers perform complex activities. In reality it is nothing more than a method of analysis and reasoning useful in many contexts such as for example: - studying and understanding a text (I analyze, summarize, recognize a sequence of information) - solving and approaching mathematical problems/ scientific - or more simply to face any situation in an active and critical way.
Especially in primary and middle schools, it's not about turning out programmers or IT experts. Rather, it is about teaching everyone to succeed in the new digital world by enabling them to solve problems using this powerful strategy.
For this reason, we often prefer to use the term "computational thinking" and not computer science or programming.
